Moldovan National Division is the top tier of Moldovan football league system established after the dissolution of the USSR in 1992. There are 12 competing teams and the two with the lowest results drop out to Moldovan “A” Division. Sheriff Tiraspol is the most titled team in the league.
The winner of Moldovan National Division enters the first qualification round of Champions League, the second- and third-placed teams, as well as the domestic cup winner compete in Europa League.
