Scottish Premiership is the top competition in Scottish professional football. The league was established in 2013, replacing The Scottish Premier League. The title is contested by 12 clubs. Season starts in July and finishes in May. The season is divided into two phases. At first all teams play one “home” and one “away” game against all the team from the table, during the second phase all clubs are divided into top six group and bottom six group where they compete against each other in order to determine the final places.
The winner of the tournament and the runner-up qualify to the Champions League, while the third and the fourth clubs earn tickets to the Europe Cup. The team that finishes bottom is relegated to the Scottish Championship. The winner of the Scottish Championship if it satisfies the league's entry criteria is promoted to the top flight.
Celtic became the first winners of the Premiership in 2014. Since the establishment of the Scottish Premier League the title was claimed only by Celtic and Rangers. Overall throughout the Scottish championship history Rangers won the League 54 times, Celtic 45 times, Heart of Midlothian, Aberdeen and Hibernian took 4 titles each.
