Athlitiki Enosi Lemesou is a football club in Cyprus, located in Limassol. The sports club was founded in October 1930 and the first football match was in January 1931 against PSC. That match was an impressive 6-1 victory.
When the Cypriot First Division was formed in 1934, the team was one of the founding members among eight teams. Their first league title came in 1941, when the team overcame APOEL 4-3. Throughout 1950s AEL was crowned with the champion titles thrice. The following league victory was in 1968 and after a long interval they won Cypriot First Division in 2012.
The team won the Cypriot Cup in 1939, 1949, 1948 and three more trophies they obtained in 1980s.
The sports club AEL Limassol is the largest in Cyprus, its football team play their home matches at Tsirion Stadium, which has a capacity of 13,331.
