Al Jazira is an Emirati football club founded in 1974 in Abu Dhabi.
Al Jazira embarked on their way as a club of meager resources mostly bouncing between lower leagues of the UAE football. However, the team shortly revealed their full potential and became a regular member of the UAE Pro League. In the 1990s they established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the top flight regularly finishing in the upper half of the league table. The team claimed their first major silverwares in 2007 when they won the UAE Federation Cup and Gulf Club Champions Cup. In 2010, Al Jazira welcomed the Etisalat Emirates Cup to their trophy cabinet. The year 2011 brought them true glory as they claimed their first UAE Pro-League title and won the UAE President’s Cup.
Al Jazira is proud of its former Liberian player George Waya who even was honored the Best Player in the World in 1996. The team play their home matches at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium with the capacity of 42,000 seats.
