Alcoyano is a Spanish football team based in the city of Alcoy. Alcoyano appeared in 1929 as a result of a merger of Levante and Racing. In 1942 the side made its debut in the second division, while first appearance in the top league dates back to 1945.
In the season 2005/2006 Alcoyano surprised many in the Spanish Cup, defeating Mallorca 4–1, yet losing to Atlético Madrid in the fourth round. Overall throughout its history the team spent 4 seasons in the first league, 12 seasons in the second division, 22 seasons in Segunda División (B) and 30 seasons in the third league.
El Collao is the home stadium of the team with a capacity of 4,500.Juan Serrano is a chairman of the club.
The name of the team is a part of the Spanish word expression “To have more morale than Alcoyano” which originates from the 1950s.
