América de Natal is a Brazilian football club from Natal founded in 1915.
The club claimed their first silverware already in 1919 as they won the Campeonato Potiguar, regional championship of their state. Overall, they won 33 state titles throughout their history establishing themselves as the Potiguar second most honored team after ABC who are their bitterest rivals. Apart from that, the club won the Campeonato do Nordeste in 1998.
América de Natal made their first run into professional Brazilian league in 1972 as they got into Série B. Already in the following year they broke into the top flight and played there for 11 consecutive seasons which turned to be the most successful period in their career. After that the team slumped to the second division again and even spent five seasons in Série C. They currently compete in Série B.
América de Natal play their home games at Machadão stadium which can host up to 35,000 spectators.
