Audax Italiano is a Cilean football club from the city of La Florida founded in 1910. Originally a cycling club, it was organized by the Italian immigrants in Chile in the Alberto Caffi’s hat store. With the development of football in the country, the club focused on that sport and gradually became a popular football team.
In May 1933 Audax Italiano were one of the founding members of the professional Chilean Primera División along with Unión Española, Santiago Badminton, Colo-Colo, Magallanes and others. They claimed their first league title in 1936 and welcomed another three in 1946, 1948 and 1957. However, it wasn’t until 2007 when the team made their first run into the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
As the club was founded by the ethnic minority group, Audax Italiano have the longstanding rivalry with other immigrant teams, Unión Española and Palestino in particular. Audax Italiano players have white and green kits. They play their home matches at Estadio Municipal de La Florida which can hold up to 12,000 spectators.
