Baniyas Sports Club is a UAE football club founded in 1982 in Abu Dhabi area.
The team began their way in UAE lower leagues. The first run of the club into the top flight dates back to the 1987/88 season. For a long time Baniyas was the so called yo-yo club as they bounced up and down between the second and the first tier. In 1992, they welcomed their first and only major silverware in the shape of President’s Cup. The team won the second-division championship four times and still never tasted the UAE Pro-League honors. However, Baniyas began to impress since the 2009/10 season when they finished 4th in the league table and improved their results in the next campaign becoming the UAE Pro-League runners-up.
The team wear white and blue kits and have the same colors on their official crest. That’s why they are often nicknamed the Sky Blues. Their home matches are played at the 10,000 seater Baniyas Stadium.
