Barcelona B is a reserve side of FC Barcelona. The original team was established in 1934 under the title Societat Esportiva Industrial Espanya, but it was only in 1943 that they became the reserve team of Barca. In 1953 the side reached the second division, three years later they changed blue and white colors of the kit to the colors of blaugrana.
In 1970 the team merged with Atlètic Catalunya and took the name Barcelona Atlètic. Overall the side spent 20 seasons in Segunda División.
These days the side became the testing field of one of the most famous football academies of the world. Such world clubs players as Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández, Víctor Valdés, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Cristian Tello have all played in the side. Pep Guardiola also started his managerial career in the team.
The side plays its home matches at the Mini Estadi with a capacity of 15,276.
The team cannot receive promotion to La Liga and compete in the Copa del Rey.
