Beerschot AC was a football club from the southern Antwerp that appeared in 1999 after the merger of Beerschot F.C and F.C. Germinal Ekeren and dissolved in 2013. Germinal Ekeren was established in 1920 in Ekeren, while Beerschot appeared in 1899 and during its history claimed bronze medals of the Belgian League in 1996 and 1998.
The new club was quickly promoted to the top league and later under the helm of Marc Brys clinched the Belgian Cup in 2004. The season 2011/2012 saw the club finishing 11th in the table.
The most prominent players that started their career in the team are Tom De Mul, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Thomas Vermaelen.
The nickname of the team was De Mannekes.
The club hosted its home games at Olympisch Stadion that has a capacity of 12,771.
