Bologna is a professional football club founded in 1909 by Emilio Arnstein who had previously established another football club with his brother, Black Star, in Austria and after moving to Italy decided to set one in there. Before World War Two Bologna was incomparable force in the Italian League winning 6 titles of the national championship. The post-war period was less fruitful as the team clinched their only Scudetto in 1964 and never threatning to hit those same heights again.
In the 1970s Bologna won the Italian Cup twice yet in the 1980s and 1990s the club was rotating between division 1 and division 2. The early 2000s were the time Bologna improved greatly. After receiving promotion in 2009 the club stays in the top division and even finished on the 9th place in the 2011/2012 campaign.
The home ground of the team is Stadio Renato Dall’Ara with a capacity of 38,200.
In 2010 Bologna was bought by a banker Giovanni Consorte and coffee businessman Massimo Zanetti.
Red and blue are the main colors of the home kit.
