Busan IPark is a South Korean football club that represents the city of Busan in the K-League.
The club was established in 1983, although under a different name – Daewoo. In its maiden campaign Busan IPark finished runners-up. In 1984 the team delivered its first professional silverware after outclassing Yukong Kokkiri in the play-offs. On January 29, 1986 Busan stunned Al-Ahli in the AFC Champions League Final, thus becoming the first Korean club to secure that trophy. In 1987 the side sealed another league title. However, after that glory the team’s league form took a dive and Busan finished the 1988 season in the fifth place. In 1991 the league title returned to the club. In 1997 Busan IPark was again crowned K-League champions.
In 2004 the side went on to seal the FA Cup. However, then the titleless years followed. In 2008 Hwang Sun-Hong took up the reign at the club. During his tenure Busan reached the FA Cup Final. The team suffered a 1-0 defeat after a spirited fight.
Busan IPark home kit features a checkered red’n’white shirt and red shorts. The club’s home ground is called Busan Asiad Stadium. Its seating capacity is nearly 54,000 spectators.
