Central Coast Mariners FC, nicknamed Mariners, is an Australian professional football club from the city of Central Coast, New South Wales, Australia. The team was established in 2004, becoming the first professional football club of the state.
The club managed to reach the A-League knock-out stages during the very first four seasons of the league. Moreover, Mariners participated in two A-League grand finals in the 2005/2006 and 2007/2008 seasons, regrettably losing both of them.
In 2009 the club first competed in the AFC Champions League. However, their performance was far from a success, as they managed to earn just two points out of possible eighteen suffering four defeats on the way.
The club got back on track finishing second in the 2010/2011 A-League season, which was a result of managerial change and the successful transfer campaign. The youth squad of the club repeated the first-team achievement the same year.
The Central Coast Mariners home venue is the 20,119 all-seated Bluetongue Stadium. The club’s home kit consists of a blue shirt with a yellow vertical stripe on it, blue shorts and socks. The away kit has yellow-white-blue coloring.
