Associação Chapecoense de Futebol, or simply Chapecoense, is a Brazilian football club founded in 1973 in Chapecó, Santa Catarina state.
The club claimed their first silverware already in 1977 as they won the Campeonato Catarinense title. In the following year they made their first run into the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and finished in the 51st position. The 1980s saw little success for the team as they suffered a setback. However, in 1996, Chapecoense made their second State Championship success and collected another two titles in 2007 and 2011. In 2006, the club’s trophy cabinet welcomed the Copa Santa Catarina.
In 2013 Chapecoense were promoted to the top-flight.
Chapecoense play their home matches at Arena Condá which can host up to 15,000 spectators.
