Corinthians is one of the most revered and decorated Brazilian football teams. The club is based in São Paulo. Its total comprises 5 Brasileirão and 26 Campeonato Paulista titles.
On September 1, 1910 a gaggle of workers decided to establish a football club to be known as Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. The team`s maiden game came on September 10, 1910.
During the 1980s Coringão became the most formidable side in Brazil. That period was memorable for the rise of two true icons, Sócrates and Rivelino. Corinthians rose to the pinnacle of the Brazilian game in the 1990s as the club secured the 2000 Club World Cup, outclassing Vasco da Gama on a penalty shoot-out.
At the dawn of the XXI century the famous businessman Kia Joorabchian started sponsoring the club, which made Corinthians the richest South-American football side. During that period Coringão earned a reputation as unstoppable in front of goal. The club possessed a fantastic eleven full of stars including Tévez, Mascherano, Dida and Nilmar. But soon its form languished and Corinthians slipped into the second division in 2007. Despite the club`s return to the Brasileirão, its reputation has been derailed.
