Fotbal Club Dinamo București is a football club in Romania, located in Bucharest. It was established in 1948 and has competed in the top division throughout its entire history. The team is a result of the merger of Unirea Tricolor MAI and Ciocanul București.
The team finished eighth their first season. Since the construction of Dinamo Stadium in 1952 the team still play their home matches. Its capacity is of 15,032. The 1951/52 and 1952/53 seasons they were runners-up and the first league title came in 1955. The following year they made their debut in the European Champion Clubs’ Cup.
Between 1962 and 1965 Dinamo was the league winner four consecutive seasons. In the 1970s they won the league title for four times. The following decade they were the league title holders thrice and competed in the semifinal of the European Cup in 1983/84. In 1988/89 Dinamo reached the quarterfinal of UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and in 1989/90 edition of that tournament they were semifinalists. In 1989/90 and 1991/92 they were league champions and then had a period of mixed success.
The team began the new millennium with the 1999/2000 league title. Since then they won the league in 2001/02, 2003/04 and 2006/07.
