Dinamo Tbilisi is a football club in Georgia, located in the capital. It was founded in 1925 and in two year the youth academy was established. In mid-1930s the team began to compete in the first division (the second tier of Soviet football system) and soon won promotion to the top flight, the premier league. Gradually they became one of the strongest teams in USSR. Throughout the Soviet period the team won Soviet Top League in 1964 and 1978, in 1976 and 1979 they won Soviet Cup. Dinamo Tbilisi was the winner of UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1981. Since 1983 the team face crisis which lasted until 1990.
In 1990 the football league was formed in Georgia and the first match in Umaglesi Liga the team lost at Kolkheti Poti 0-1. Since 1990 Dinamo won ten consecutive league titles and in the new millennium they were the winners in 2003, 2005 and 2008. Between 1992 and 2009 the team won nine Georgian Cup titles.
Dinamo use Dinamo Arena as their home venue. The stadium has a capacity of 53,279 spectators.
