Dundee United is a football team from the city of Dundee. The club appeared in 1909 under the name Dundee Hibernian, while the current title was adopted in 1923. The side is often nicknamed the Terrors or the Tangerines, the fans of the side are called the Arabs.
During the first half of the 20th century Dundee languished in the minor league of Scottish football pyramid. The most glorious era in the United ’s history started in the late 1970s when under the helm of Jim McLean the club celebrated a victory in the Scottish League Cup in the seasons 1979/1980 and 1980/1981. Two seasons later Dundee clinched the Scottish Premier division. In 1984 the side reached the semi-finals of the European Cup and in the season 1986/1987 the Terrors reached the final of the UEFA Cup, but did not manage to clinch the trophy.
The last major silverware the team won was the 2010 Scottish Cup. The highest recent finish in the top flight was the bronze medals in the season 1996/1997.
The home stadium is Tannadice Park that can sit up to 14,209.
