Football club Evian was established in 1924 uder the different name and only in the 2003 when FC Gaillard merged with FC Ville-la-Grand one team Evian that we know today appeared. The original teams mostly competed in amateur leagues and could not achieve high level.
The new club competed in the amateur Championnat de France as well but when Franck Riboud became the president of the team and Evian focused on developing the youth academy aspiring to build the side strong enough to get to Ligue 2. This target was achieved in 2010 as the Evian defeated Amiens 1-0 and secured a place in the second strongest league. The team stunned many after finishing atop of the Ligue 2 in its first season and as a result was promoted to the top flight of the French football.
The club played its home matches at the Stade Joseph-Moynat that is being renovated now. At this moment the team hosts its home games at Parc des Sport in Annecy. Groupe Danoneis is the owner of the club.
The manager is Pablo Correa and the chairman is Patrick Trotignon.
In the 2011/2012 season Evian managed to get 50 points and finished 9th .
