Ferencvárosi TC is a Hungarian football side located in Budapest. The club performs in the OTP Bank Liga. Ferencváros is the most famous and successful team in the country as it won 28 national championships, 20 Hungarian Cups, 4 Hungarian Super Cups, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the Football Impact Cup.
The club was born on May 3, 1899. On April 21, 1900 Green Eagles played their first match. The first league title arrived in 1903. From 1909 to 1913 Ferencváros claimed five back-to-back Hungarian championships. In the 1923/1925 the club recorded the biggest ever OTP Bank Liga defeat, losing 14-2 to MTK Hungária FC. The 1960s were the years of glory for Fradi as the team participated in three European finals. In the 1964/1965 season the side lifted the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup after outclassing Juventus in the final. Ferencváros again reached the last stage of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1968 but this time the club was defeated by Leeds United.
The 1974/1975 season saw Green Eagles lost the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final to Dinamo Kiev. 20 years later the club qualified for the Champions League group stage but couldn’t proceed to the knockout round.
In 2004 Ferencvárosi completed the league and cup double. But two yeas later the club went into administration and as a result it was relegated to the second division. In 2009 Green Eagles came back to the top division. In 2013 Fradi won the Football Impact Cup.
The team’s traditional colours are white and green. Stadion Albert Flórián hosts the club’s home matches.
