Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba is a football club from Godoy Cruz, Mendoza, Argentina. It currently competes in the Primera División. The side is nicknamed El Expreso.
Formed on June 1, 1921 the club was originally known as Sportivo Godoy Cruz. In 1930 it adopted the name of Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba as a result of the merger with Deportivo Bodega Antonio Tomba.
In 1994 the club lifted the Torneo del Interior and progressed to the Primera B Nacional. Godoy Cruz competed in the second tier for twelve years. In 2006 El Expreso won promotion to the elite division as champions of the Primera B. The team defeated Nueva Chicago in the play-off matches. But the club`s promotion was to prove a false dawn as relegation followed the following season. During the 2007/2008 campaign Godoy Cruz sealed automatic promotion to the Primera División.
In 2010 Omar Asad was unveiled as a new manager of the club. Under his guidance Godoy Cruz achieved its highest league placing to date after claiming third place in the Clausura. That year also saw the club take part in the Copa Libertadores.
Such outstanding footballers as Rubén Paz (South American Footballer of the Year in 1988), Jairo Castillo (the 2001 Copa América champion) and Fabián Basualdo (the twice champion of the Copa América) defended the colours of Godoy Cruz.
