Goiás Esporte Clube is a Brazilian football club from the city of Goiânia founded in 1943.
The first run of the club into Campeonato Brasileiro Série A dates back to 1973. The farthest they reached in the top-flight competition was the third place in 2005. The result earned Goiás a spot in the 2006 Copa Libertadores where they recorded the 9th place finish. In Brazilian cup tournament the club climbed up to the runner-up position in 1990. Apart from that, Goiás is the most honored team in a state championship Campeonato Goiano with 23 titles. They also claimed three consecutive regional cups (2000, 2001 and 2002). In 1998, the team became a member of Clube dos 13. In 2012, Goiás were crowned the Série B champions which gave them a ticket to the top flight.
Goiás play their home matches at Serra Dourada stadium in Goiânia which can host up to 50,049 people.
