Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona is a football team that was founded in 2000 when teams Hapoel Kiryat Shmona and Maccabi Kiryat Shmona merged into one club.
In the early days the side played in the minor leagues and received promotion to the top tier in only in the season 2006/2007. The result of the first run in the top flight was an impressive third position.
Two seasons later the team grabbed its first silverware in the form of the Toto Cup. In April 2012 Ironi Kiryat Shmona claimed the Israeli Premier League, securing the title 5 mathces before the finish of the season.
In May 2012 the side was forced to change its crest due to the UEFA requirements. The current badge depicts several balls, a gold star that symbolizes the only championship title and the Lion of Judah statue.The Municipal Stadium is the home arena of the team. The facility can sit up to 5,300 fans.
