Hapoel Tel Aviv is a football club that was founded in 1926. The first major achievement of the team was the final of the 1928 Palestine Cup, where they defeated Maccabi Hasmonean Jerusalem 2–0. Consequently Hapoel was accused of putting an ineligible player in the starting line-up and the final result was abandoned.
In the season 1933/1934 the side claimed its first double, staying undefeated throughout the whole season in the Palestine League and beating in the cup final Maccabi Tel Aviv 3–2. The team clinched the Cup in three successive seasons (1937, 1938 and 1939).During the 1940s and 1950s the side collected three titles of the league and the 1961 State Cup, when they outplayed in the final Hapoel Petah Tikva 2–1.
The season 1965/1966 gave the side ultimate glory as Hapoel finished atop of the first league and won the Asian Club Championships, beating in the final Selangor 2–1.
The farthest the team progressed in the European tournaments was the quarter-finals of the 2001/2002 UEFA Cup.
The last major achievement of the team was the double clinched in the season 2009/2010. Overall the club’s history boasts 13 league titles, 16 State Cups, 5 Israeli Supercups and one Toto Cup.
The most famous nicknames of the team are the Red Demons and the Workers. The owner of the side is Haim Ramon. The home ground is Bloomfield Stadium that can hold up to 14,960 supporters.
