HJK or Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi is a football club in Finland, which Fredrik Wathén founded in 1907. It holds the largest number of league titles in Finland. Their first champions’ title came in 1911 and up to the year of 2012 they were the champions for 25 times. Throughout its history and till 2012 the team won 11 Finnish Cup titles.
HJK was a sports club earlier and had different sections (ice hockey, field hockey, figure skating, handball, bandy and bowling).
They are the only team in Finland, which competed in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. That happened in the 1998/99 season, when at the expense of FC Metz the team reached the group stage and finished fourth in its group behind PSV Eindhoven, Benfica and Kaiserslautern.
Sonera Stadium is the team’s home ground, which was built in 2000 and has a capacity of 10,770.
