Hoverla Uzhhorod is a Ukrainian football club from the region of Zakarpattia. The name Hoverla refers in the highest mountain in the area. The club was created in 1946 under the name Spartak Uzhhorod, though according to some resources the predecessor of the club was SC Rus that was founded 10 years earlier. Throughout its history the team changed a number of names, including Verkhovyna, Zakarpattia and Hoverla-Zakarpattia.
The current name was adopted before the season 2012/2013.
The team did not enjoy much success in the Soviet football competitions, playing mainly in the minor leagues. The results the club showed in the Ukrainian competitions were much better, as the team claimed the titles of the First League in the seasons 20003/2004, 2008/2009, 2011/2012.
The club spent the season 2012/2013 in the Ukrainian Premier League and finished in he relegation zone. However, due to bankrupcy of Kryvbas the club was allowed to stay in the top flight.
The home ground of the team is Avanhard Stadium that can hold up to 12,000 fans.
