CD Huachipato is a Chilean football club founded in 1947 in Talcahuano. It was organized by the steel industry employees who worked at the area.
The team began their way in amateur Chilean football leagues. In 1965, they got into professional football spending two seasons in the second division. In 1967, Huachipato enjoyed promotion to the Chilean Primera División. They claimed their first league title in 1974 and repeated the feat in 2012 as the champions of the Clausura tournament. These achievements earned them a ticket to the Copa Libertadores in 1975 and 2013 respectively. In 2006, Huachipato also featured in the Copa Sudamericana.
Huachipato players wear black and blue stripped kits. They hold their home matches at Estadio CAP in Talcahuano which can host up to 10,500 spectators.
