Illichivets is a Ukranian football club based in the city of Mariupol. The team was established in 1960 under the name FC Azovets and up to the 1990s competed in the lower leagues of Soviet football pyramid.
The team made its first appearance in the Ukrainian League in the season 1997/1998 and consequently stayed in the top tier for 10 seasons. Despite suffering relegation to the First League in the season 2006/2007, Illichivets came back to the top flight the next season and even secured a mid-table position.
Before the season 1995/1996 the team changed its name to Metalurh, but few seasons later the title Illichivets was adopted. The furthest the club progressed in the Ukrainian Cup is the semi-final, while the highest finish in the Ukrainian championship is the 4th place.
The home ground of the team is Illichivets Stadium that can sit up to 12,680. The nickname of the club is Lenintsi.
