FC Ingolstadt 04 is a German club organized in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, out of the fusion of ESV Ingolstadt and MTV Ingolstadt in 2004.
The club embarked on their way in the German fourth division and made a fine start finishing second in their debut season. The next 2005/06 season, they finished atop of the Oberliga Bayern and promoted to the third tier Regionalliga Süd. The team gradually picked up steam and in the 2007/08 campaign they finished a ruuner-up and broke into the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga. The later periods saw Ingolstadt’s ups and downs. After the 2009/10 campaign in the 3. Liga, the club fought their way back to the second division for the 2010/11 season and competes there till today.
The club is often nicknamed Die Schanzer among their fans. FC Ingolstadt 04 holds its home games at the 15,000 seater Audi Sportpark stadium.
