Inter Baku

History and achievements

Inter Baku is an Azerbaijani club from Baku founded in 1997.

The team initially represented Khazar University and competed in the amateur league. In 1999, they made their first run into the Azerbaijani Premier League and regularly play there since then, apart from one season. They claimed their first title in the 2007/08 season and made their second league success in the 2009/10 campaign. Despite good league results during a short period of their existence, Inter Baku have always been a footstep away from cup success finishing as runners-up four times. On the international scene, the team made several appearances in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Intertoto Cup. In 2012, Inter Baku graced Azerbaijan becoming the first Azerbaijani side to record the biggest winning margin beating Estonian Narva Trans 5–0.

Inter Baku players are often nicknamed the Bankers. They play their home matches at Shafa Stadium with the capacity of 8,152 seats.
