Kardemir Karabukspor was founded in 1969 in Karabuk after unification of two local teams – Demir Çelik Spor and Karabük Gençlikspor. Supporters call the club Mavi Ateş (‘Blue Flame’), which is due to the emblem design.
The team plays its home matches at its own local Yenişehir Stadium (capacity – about 10,000 seats).
Nevzat Şahin and Michael Skibbe are the club’s president and head coach respectively.
So far the team has played five times in the Turkish Super Lig having finished in the 12th place in the 2011/2012 season. The best result (eighth place) dates back to the 1997/1998 season.
