Kashiwa Reysol is a Japanese football club, based in Kashiwa, Chiba. Currently the team plays in the J. League Division 1.
It was founded in 1940 in Koganei, Tokyo, initially as Hitachi, Ltd. Soccer Club. The team was one of the founders of the Japan Soccer League. In the 1970s they won the Japan Soccer League in 1972, two Emperor’s Cups and JSL Cup in 1976. In 1986, they moved to the city of Kashiwa and that year suffered relegation to the Japan Soccer League Division 2, where they played until 1989. Then they relegated again in 1990 and returned to the top division in 1991.
In 1992, they joined the Japan Football League but achieved promotion to J. League Division 1 in a season, in 1994, finishing the JFL runner-up. In 1999, the team won the J. League cup and in that year and the following year they finished the league third. In 2005 and 2010 they suffered relegation but they returned to the top flight the following seasons. In 2011, Kashiwa won the league title for the first time and qualified for the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup.
The team play their home matches at Hitachi Kashiwa Soccer Stadium, its capacity is 15,900.
