Kilmarnock is a Scottish football club. The team was founded by a group of amateur cricket players in 1869. The team is one of the oldest in Scotland.
The first major trophy of the club was claimed in 1920 when Kilmarnock reached the final of the Scottish Cup and defeated Albion Rovers there. The side celebrated one more Cup victory in 1927, that time beating Rangers in the ultimate match 2 – 0.
In the 1960s Kilmarnock achieved great success in national tournament, finishing runner-up four times. In 1965 Kilmarnock under the helm of Willie Waddell clinched the title of the league. The following season the side progressed to the semi-final of the Fairs Cup which is their best European result.In 1997 Kilmarnock clinched their third Scottish Cup.
The club holds its home games at Rugby Park that has a capacity of 18,128.
