Lokeren (the full name is Koninklijke Sporting Club Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen) is a football club from Belgium that was created in 1923. Throughout its history the team changed several names including Racing Club Lokeren, Koninklijke Racing Club Lokeren and Sporting Lokeren Sint-Niklaas Waasland.
The team spent first fifty years of its life playing in the lower leagues of Belgium football. Lokeren reached the first division in the season 1974/1975 and since that moment on the side stayed at a strong mid-position in the top flight, sliding to the second division for a short spell between 1993 and 1996.
The most glorious time in the club’s history was the season 1980/1981 when the club finished as a runner-up in the league and played in the final of the Belgian Cup. Yet it was the season 2011/2012 when the team claimed its first major silverware in the shape of the Belgian Cup.
The highest achievement of the club on the European arena is the quarter-final of the UEFA Cup in 1980/1981.
The official colors of the team are white, black and yellow. The team holds its home games at the Daknamstadion Stadium that has a capacity up to 9,271.
