Mons is a football club from Belgium. The club was established in 1909 under the slogan “All good players Welcome”.
Following the steps of the Léopold Club de Bruxelles that used the name of the Belgian monarch in the title, the team requested His Majesty King Albert I to permit to name the club “Alberth-Elisabeth Club de Mons” and on 18th March 1910 the approval was given. Originally, the official colors of the team were blue and white but in September 1920 the team changed them to red and white.
The team spent most of its history in lower leagues of the Belgian football pyramid, occasionally climbing to the second division. In 2002 the side received a chance to qualify to the Jupiler League. Mons did not manage to secure a place in the top league in its first season, facing relegation in 2005, yet in 2011 the team bounced back to the first league.
The home stadium of the club is Stade Charles Tondreau that can hold up to 12,000 supporters. The nicknames of the team are the Dragons and Albert.
The chairman of the team is Dominique Leone.
