Náutico is a Brazilian sports side from Recife, Pernambuco. It`s the third most popular club in its state, after Santa Cruz and Sport Recife. The rivalry with the latter has a symbolic name: Clássico dos Clássicos.
Náutico was formed on April 7, 1901. Originally it was a rowing club but in 1905 it switched to football. In 1967 Náutico reached the Brazilian Cup final but suffered a defeat from Palmeiras.
In 2005 the club could promote to the Série A but lost its battle to Grêmio. Náutico finally earned promotion to the elite division after finishing 3rd in 2006.
Clube Náutico Capibaribe has clinched 21 Campeonato Pernambucano titles so far. The latest trophy was lifted in the year of 2004. The team`s stadium is called Estádio dos Aflitos. It has seats for 30,000 supporters.
