Nizhny Novgorod was a football club in Russia, named after the city it was located in. In 2007 the team Nizhny Novgorod was based on an amateur team and after a season they entered Russian Second Division, Zone Volga. They finished third and advanced to Russian First Division. In 2010 and 2011/12 Nizhny Novgorod was third in Russian National Football League. In 2012 the club was disestablished and was merged with FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod.
