Football Club Nordsjælland is a football club in Denmark. It was founded in 1991 as two football clubs merged: Farum Idræts Kluband and Stavnsholt Boldklub. Initially the club was named Farum Boldklub and in 2003 it was renamed into F.C. Nordsjælland. The team got promotion from the Denmark Series where they had played until 1997/98, when promoted to the 2nd Division, they got the status of a professional club. Under the guidance of Christian Andersen in 2001/02 the team gained promotion to the Superliga as they had finished the season second. In 2002/03 the team was renamed and finished the Superliga third which meant qualifying for the UEFA Cup, their first ever.
The following season Johnny Petersen was appointed the head coach but he couldn’t bring the team to high results. In 2006/07 Morten Wieghors replaced Petersen and guided them for five years. In 2008/09 F.C. Nordsjælland reached the quarterfinals of the Danish Cup and in 2009/10 they finally won their first Danish Cup and the following season they won it again. In July 2011, Kasper Hjulmand became the manager and led the team to the 2011/12 Superligaen title.
The team’s home stadium is Farum Park, its capacity is 10, 100. F.C. Nordsjælland heads the network of clubs, named Fodbold Samarbejde Nordsjælland, scouting many youngsters they find talented players.
