Olympiakos Nicosia is a football team in Cyprus, located in its capital Nicosia. It was established in 1931 and throughout its history the club had different sport teams: futsal, table tennis, cycling, basketball, track and field, volleyball.
The football team made their first achievements in 1960s when they were second in the 1961/62 domestic cup. They won the first division in 1967, in the 1968/69 season won the league for the second time and the following title came in 1970/71. At that successful period Olympiakos thrice competed in the Greek National 1st Division. They won the Cypriot Cup in 1977 and in 1991 they were runners-up.
The team’s recent performance isn’t impressive. In 2007/08 they faced economic crisis and suffered relegation for the third time throughout its history. In two seasons Olympiakos earned promotion and in 2010/11 avoided relegation.
The team share GSP Stadium with Omonia Nicosia and APOEL. The stadium is of 22,859 seats.
