Pachuca Club de Fútbol is a football club in Mexico, located in Pachuca, Hidalgo. The miners from the Compañía Real del Monte y Pachuca in 1901 established the Pachuca Athletic Club. The club is one of the founders of the Mexican Primera División in 1907. After the Mexican Revolution Pachuca was one of three clubs, that remained. From 1917 to 1920 they were league title holders but then competed in the Mexican Second Division.
In 1967 they won the Segunda División and promoted to the top flight but relegated at the beginning of the 1970s. The 1992/93 season they spent in the top flight but then faced relegation again. The team won the Primera A thus earned promotion to the Primera División in the 1995/96 season but didn’t stay there for long and relegated. The following promotion was after the Invierno 1996, but left the Primera División at the end of the season. After the Verano 1997 Pachuca faced the third relegation, nevertheless won promotion and stayed in the top flight for two years in a row for the first time.
Their Invierno 1999 title was their first league win. Pachuca won the Invierno 2001 at the expense of UANL and since then they were titled at the Apertura 2003, Clausura 2006 and Clausura 2007.
Their first international title was earned in 2002, when they won the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup. They won the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup (since 2008 that tournament is named the CONCACAF Champions League) in 2007, 2008 and 2009/10. In 2006 Pachuca won Copa Sudamericana, in 2007 they were the North American SuperLiga winners.
