Panathinaikos is a Greek football side located in Athens. The club was founded in 1908 and became professional in 1979. Panathinaikos competes in the Superleague Greece and is one of the most successful sides in Greek football. They have entitled 20 Greek Championships and 17 Greek Cups.
The team played at Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium until 1984, later moving to the Athens Olympic Stadium. Panathinaikos is often nicknamed as the Greens due to its official kit colors. The club’s long-standing rivals are Olympiacos and games between the two squads are often called Mother of all battles. Along with Aris Thessaloniki, Panathinaikos F.C. is a supporter-owned football side in Greece. Panathinaikos is the only Greek club that finished a league campaign unbeaten in the 1963/1964 season. The club was the European Cup finalist in 1971, and thus is the only Greek side that has ever achieved a European final. Panathinaikos repeated their success in the 1984/1985 European Cup. In 1996 the team competed in the Champions League and reached the semi-finals, where they were beaten by Ajax.
Panathinaikos won 20 trophies in the Superleague Greece, 17 Greek Cups, 4 Greek Super Cups, the 1970 Greater Greece Cup, 18 Athens Championship titles and the 1978 Balkans Cup.
