Gliwicki Klub Sportowy Piast Gliwice is a football club in Poland, located in Gliwice. It was established in June 1945 by people who moved to Western Ukraine. The team was named after the Piast dynasty (in the period from 10th century to 1370 it was the ruling dynasty in Poland). During its history the team merged with other teams changing its name many times. In 1964 the team merged with GKS Gliwice and was named GKS Piast Gliwice and since then they merged with other teams several times.
Before the year of 2012 they had 32 seasons in I Liga and in the 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2012/13 they’ve competed in the top division, Ekstraklasa.
Piast’s home ground in Gliwice is Stadion Piast, which has a capacity of 10,037 spectators.
