History and achievements
Futebol Clube do Porto also known as FC Porto or Porto is a multisport club from Porto, which is in the north of Portugal. It was founded on September 28, 1893 and is a Primeira Big Three club.
FC Porto is Portugal’s second most honored with 65 domestic trophies only behind SL Benfica and ahead of Sporting CP with a bigger number of titles.
FC Porto has its own record of five straight national championship titles and on the whole the club became national champion 26 times. The club won Portuguese Cup 20 times and has 19 SuperCup victories.
Porto is one of the two Portuguese clubs (Benfica being the other) that completed a 30-match national season without losing a single game which happened in the 2010/11 season (Benfica did it twice in the 1972/73 and 1977/78 seasons). The club completed the 2010/11 season 21 points ahead of the runner-up.
Porto is a constant participant of international competitions. Among its titles there are: European and International Cups as well as European Super Cup in 1987, UEFA Cup in 2003, UEFA Champions League and International Cup in 2004 and UEFA Europa League in 2011.
FC Porto was among Primeira founders in 1933 together with Benfica and Sporting. The club was never relegated from the Portuguese top league in its history.
