FK Radnički is a Serbian club from Kragujevac. It was founded in 1923 under the name Mladi Radnik. In 1929, the club changed their name to Radnički, which can be translated from Serbian as ‘Labourers’.
In 1935, Radnički moved to the new home ground and played their first match, which was a 1-0 victory over local Slavija. During the same period, the club encountered several foreign teams like Ferencváros, Olympique Marseille and Rapid Wien. ‘The Labourers’ did not perform from 1941 until 1945 due to WWII, but after it had ended, the club gained the support of the municipality and built a new stadium in order to accommodate all fans.
In 1969, Radnički gained the promotion to the Yugoslav First League and drew the attention of foreign mass media, which gave an impetus to invite Brazilian side Santos with legendary Pele for a friendly. The match was attended by approximately 48 thousand fans and ended in a 4-4 draw.
In the 1970s, the club suffered several relegations and comebacks, but eventually lost a place in the top division in 1976. From 1998 till 2001, Radnički played in the first league, but lost their spot again and managed to regain it only in the 2010/2011 season, when the team won the promotion to the Serbian SuperLiga.
