Ruch Chorzów is a football club in Poland. It is located in Chorzów, Upper Silesia. The club was established on 20 April 1920 in Hajduki Wielkie and was named Ruch Hajduki Wielkie. With that name the club competed till the year of 1938. On 3 May 1920 the team made its debut in a 3-1 victory over Orzeł Józefowiec.
When Chorzów merged with the municipality of Hajduki Wielkie the team was renamed to Ruch Chorzów. Uder thу German rule the club had a name of Bismarckhütter SV 99 and in 1941 they merged with the Gauliga Oberschlesien. The team’s name Ruch Chorzów was returned in 1945, but in 1948 it was changed to Unia Chorzów, in 1955 it was named Unia-Ruch and finally in 1956 the club became Ruch Chorzów.
All in all the team won the Polish championship fourteen times, the latest title came in 1989. In 1951, 1974 and 1996 Ruch won Polish Cup tournaments. Among their recent achievements are the second places in the league and in the Polish Cup, both they reached in 2012.
Ruch Chorzów plays the home matches at Stadion Miejski, which has a capacity of 10,000.
