Sagan Tosu is a football club, located in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Currently the team plays in the top division, J. league 1. Sagan in the team’s name means sandstone in the Japanese language or its title, Sagan Tosu, means Tosu of Saga.
The team was founded in 1997, based on an insolvent Tosu Futures. In 1999, Sagan Tosu competed in the J. League Division 2 and since then the team has played there until 2011 being mid-placed in the table. In 2011, they finished second and consequently were promoted to the top division, J. League 1.
The team’s stadium is Tosu Stadium, its capacity is 24,000. When Sagan Tosu play home matches they wear blue kit and white one at the away games.
