Shamrock Rovers is a professional football side located in Dublin, Ireland. The club currently plays in the Premier Division. Shamrock Rovers entered the League of Ireland in 1922 and entitled the competition in its debut season. The club had become the most successful in the league by 1949. In the 1950s Shamrock Rovers won 3 league titles and 2 FAI Cups. Shamrock Rovers was the first Irish club to participate in a European competition, making its debut in the European Cup in 1957.
After a 16-year wait, Shamrock Rovers finally managed to win the 2010 Premier Division on goal difference. The team also reached the FAI Cup final, where they were defeated by Sligo Rovers on penalties.
