
History and achievements
Shanghai East Asia is a football club in China. Xu Genbao founded Genbao Football Academy in 2000 and in 2005 he established Shanghai East Asia F.C. So the major part of the team players is the graduates from the Academy. In 2006 the team began to compete in the Chinese league system, they won the China League Two (the third tier of the Chinese football league system) in 2007.
In 2010 Fan Zhiyi was appointed he head coach, invited several foreigners to play for the team but that didn’t help the side to promote. In 2012 the club’s new sponsor and at the end of the season they won the China League One, thus promoting to the top flight.
Shanghai Stadium, where Shanghai East Asia F.C. play their home matches, has a capacity of 56,000 spectators.
