Shimizu S-Pulse is a Japanese football club. It is located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka, Shizuoka Prefecture. The team was founded in 1991 and having become a professional one, since 1993 they have always played in the top division. Initially the team included players only from Shizuoka Prefecture.
The first ever match where the club played was on 4 July 1992 and the first league game they played in was in May 1993. In that year they competed in the newly founded J.League and finished third. In 1996 Shimizu S-Pulse won the J. League Cup. The team appeared in the 1999 Japanese Super Cup for the first time and that year they finished J. League Division 1 runner-up. Next year they won the Asian Cup Winners Cup. In 2001 S-Pulse succeeded to win the Emperor’s Cup and Japanese Super Cup. The later one they won in 2002 as well.
S-Pulse’s home ground is the Nihondaira Sports Stadium. It is located in Shimizu and its capacity is over 20, 000 seats. The footballers wear orange kit (shirts, shorts and socks).
