History and achievements

Shinnik Yaroslavl is a football team in Russia, founded in 1957. Since its establishment and until 1962 the team played in the Soviet Class B, in 1963 and between 1965 and 1970 Shinnik played in Class A Second Group and in 1964 they played in the First Group Class A. Between 1971 and 1991 they competed in the First League. Since the foundation of Russian football league system, they played in the Premier League in 1992 but dropped to the First division. Between 1997 and 1999 the team was in the top division, then had two seasons in the First League. From 2002 to 2006 and in 2008 they played in the Premier League but were relegated.

Shinnik Stadium in Yaroslavl has a capacity for 22,990 visitors.
